Portus Architecture encompasses work by led by Abigail Portus, a qualified Architect, with and a team of creatives and collaborators.


Work includes professional architectural practice with a variety of temporary pavilions, installations and stage design in event settings. These projects range from the built to R+D, working at the intersection of architecture, music and climate awareness. They aim to facilitate joy in communities by creating inspiring spaces for people to live and move in.


Abigail Portus BSc(Hons) Dip.Arch ARB FRSA

Abigail Portus is a qualified Architect, builder, designer and artist. Abigail is a Director of Gransmore Architects and also leads Portus Architecture projects. She has previously worked for a number of practices including APG Architecture, JCA, Heatherwick Studio and Cullinan Studio and has been a tutor on the Royal Academy's AttRAct programme. She recently completed a deep retrofit test-bed project on a residential property, carrying out both the architectural design and physical construction for the project.

She has worked on several cultural and residential schemes as lead Project Architect. Most recently this included delivery of an educational building from concept to completion (RIBA Stages 1-7) at APG Architecture, and worked on the initial stages of the Wave London surf lake project. She has also led several projects and design packages through planning and technical design stages, including a new BREEAM Excellent WELL Gold Cross-Laminated Timber HQ for Santander in Liverpool at JCA. She studied at the Bartlett, UCL and was a founding student member of the London School of Architecture. Abigail has completed numerous stage design & build projects and installations and has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

Abigail's work focuses on cultural, performance and residential schemes, through a sustainable, vernacular narrative. She recently built an installation for Glastonbury Festival and also created the Pyramid stage backdrop design for Bristol Reggae Orchestra’s set at Glastonbury Festival 2023. She has also exhibited a design proposal for the Reimagining Museums for Climate Action exhibition at Glasgow Science Centre in 2021, alongside the COP26 UN Climate Change Conference. Her proposal looked to tackle water shortages and wastage within major UK cities, through creative educational and architectural solutions.



Portus Architecture is open to opportunities where built spaces or event design structures are required, particularly for music or community projects.
We collaborate with teams to achieve exceptional design quality suited to its social, cultural setting whilst strongly considering its carbon impact.
